Last weekend, I participated in an activity called the Grasstraw Festival. It was an activity held near the Chiayi station. There you could see many vendors set up stalls and hip-hop dancers dance. By paying 100 dollars, you could enter the venue and have a look around. There was a very small show which was named “the sound out of the painting.” The performer was played by one of my friend’s high school classmates, and she was the main character in this show. With my friend’s invitation, it was my first time to appreciate this kind of performance that I have never been exposed to before.

     To be interesting, this performance used the whole room to be the stage. Thus, there was no chair for audiences to sit on. We needed to follow the actress, and where she went, where we had to keep up. She would walk around the entire room to let the audience fall in the plot of the story. The story was totally about a famous artist Chen Cheng-po’s wife, and the mood of his wife when she learned the fact that her husband had to go overseas. How hard for us to imagine a woman who had to lead lives without husband’s company in that generation. She not only had to depend on herself but also had to take care of five children. However, everything had been overcome since her husband had delivered a letter, which described that he would come back to reunite with them.

     Overall story was very touching. With the actress’s marvelous performance, I was deeply affected. For the real emotion, she even shed tears at the end of the show, which made me also couldn’t help bursting into tears. I believed that one day she would become a famous actress. After finishing the show, she has taken a picture with us. It was my first time to take a photo with the performer. As you can see, she was a girl who stood in the middle of the picture. She is an extremely nice and friendly girl. It is incredible that we are at the same age, but she has just accomplished a performance almost by herself. But when it comes to myself, I am just a student studying in the university and feel mixed-up about the future. Thanks to my friend, I got the chance to watch this kind of performance, which gave me an unforgettable experience. And if having more opportunities, I hope to see more these kinds of performances to be shown in the public’s sight.
